Tavern Talks

Tavern Talks is an interactive event that takes you back in time, featuring history that happened on your doorstep. Reenactors immerse participants in the past using questions and prompts to help you explore not only the past, but also issues you and your community face today.

History Pinned

From June 1st – July 31st, five historic sites with connections to New Jersey’s civic history will be handing out unique History Pinned buttons. Collective all five to win a special History Hero iron-on badge!

Traveling Exhibit

Multiple copies of a RevolutionNJ Traveling Exhibit are being created, curated by Sharp Consulting, to be in the market in 2025.

History Happened Here

We are developing a variety of programs and resources for educators to use in the classroom or for professional development, including guidelines and expectations for participants, Student Learning Standards, and an array of videos from public history sites to set expectations as to what kinds of resources are available. Learn more at our Educator’s Resource page.

Public Arts Program

We are working closely with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and Monument Lab, and partnering with New Jersey-based artists, historic sites, organizations, and municipalities to create temporary public art installations throughout the state that engage community members with the complexity of history.

Genealogy Pop Up

Developed together with the State Library and State Archives, and staffed by local professionals, our pop-up booth will engage New Jerseyans with the basics of genealogy at community events like county fairs, food festivals, street fairs, community family days, etc.

Podcasts

We will work with a public historian to create 8-10 “history mystery” podcasts about New Jersey history that tie into RevolutionNJ themes.

Revolutionary Runs

Margaret Westfield, New Jersey Historical Commission board member and RevolutionNJ Steering Committee Member, is spearheading a series of history themed marathons in the state.

6 locations are currently being identified and planned for the upcoming year.
